Ayanda Hlubi was born in KwaDukuza, KwaZulu-Natal, in July 2004. A right-arm fast bowler, she relies on a high-arm release, skiddy pace, and seam movement to target the stumps. Her competitive career began in regional youth systems before she made her senior domestic debut for KwaZulu-Natal Coastal in October 2019 at fifteen years of age. Over subsequent seasons, she established herself as a regular seamer for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in domestic competitions.

She earned her senior T20I debut for South Africa against Bangladesh in Kimberley in December 2023. She took two wickets for 15 runs in four overs, receiving the Player of the Match award on debut. In February 2024, she made both her ODI and Test debuts during South Africa's multi-format tour of Australia.

Later that year, in December 2024, she featured in the one-off Test against England in Bloemfontein, taking 2 for 40 in the first innings and 1 for 1 in the second.

Through 2025 and 2026, Hlubi remained part of the national fast-bowling rotation across series against Pakistan, New Zealand, and India.
