Gurjapneet Singh, a promising left-arm medium-fast bowler from India, is steadily making his mark in the domestic cricket circuit. Known for his ability to swing the ball both ways, Singh has been a vital cog in Tamil Nadu's bowling lineup in the Ranji Trophy. His standout performance came against Saurashtra, where he claimed six wickets for just 22 runs, showcasing his potential to dismantle batting line-ups with precision and skill. With a bowling average of 19.69 in first-class cricket, Singh has demonstrated his knack for taking crucial wickets, making him a player to watch in the coming seasons.
Despite being relatively new to the professional scene, Singh's performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy have been noteworthy. He has taken nine wickets in five matches, with an impressive economy rate of 9.82, underlining his ability to maintain pressure in the shortest format. His best figures of 3-53 against Saurashtra highlight his capability to deliver under pressure, a trait that is invaluable in T20 cricket.
Singh's journey in the Tamil Nadu Premier League has also been promising, at a healthy bowling average He first started his journey with the Dindigul Dragons in the year 2021. However, following an injury, he had to miss the 2022 season of the TNPL. But his comeback was stronger as in 2023, Singh was acquired by the Siechem Madurai Panthers where he took 15 wickets in the season. His ability to adapt to different conditions and formats is evident from his performances across various domestic competitions.
Once a net-bowler for the CSK franchise, Gurjapneet was finally picked by the yellow brigade for the 2025 IPL season, following a bidding war between a few franchises in the auction leading to the season.
The 2025 season began with a difficult setback as an injury in April forced Gurjapneet to withdraw from the remainder of the Indian Premier League tournament, with Chennai Super Kings signing South African batter Dewald Brevis as his replacement. However, his consistency in the domestic circuit and his ability to generate high pace and bounce remained highly valued, leading to a significant breakthrough in September 2025 when he was selected for the India A squad to face Australia A in a home series. He earned his spot after taking 10 wickets in two matches in the 2025-26 Duleep Trophy.
During the 2025-26 domestic season, Gurjapneet continued to lead the Tamil Nadu attack across the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Chronologically, ahead of the 2026 IPL season, he did not enter the auction as he was officially retained by the Chennai Super Kings in November 2025 for his previous price of 2.2 crore.
