Inzamam-ul-Haq

Age 56PakistanPAKISTAN
Right Handed Batsman

A towering pillar of composure, effortless power, and sublime touch, Inzamam-ul-Haq stands as one of the most prolific batting icons in Asian cricket history. Born in Multan, Punjab, the right-handed middle-order maestro combined extraordinary soft hands against spin with imperious back-foot play against high pace. Despite an understated, relaxed demeanour at the crease, Inzamam turned matches through serene dominance, anchoring Pakistan's batting unit across a brilliant 16-year international career.

Inzamam announced his arrival to global stardom during Pakistan's triumphant 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup campaign, playing a match-winning 60 off 37 balls against New Zealand in the semi-final before top-scoring in the final against England. He etched his name into Pakistani cricket lore by scoring a monumental triple century against New Zealand at Lahore in 2002, posting a magnificent 329 runs to produce one of the highest individual scores for Pakistan in Test history. Among his most famous achievements, he carried Pakistan to a legendary one-wicket victory over Australia at Karachi in 1994, scoring an unbeaten 58 alongside last man Mushtaq Ahmed to pull off one of the greatest fourth-innings chases in Test history.

Taking over the national captaincy in 2003, Inzamam led Pakistan with quiet authority, securing landmark Test series victories at home and abroad, including a famous Test victory against India at Bangalore in 2005 during his 100th Test match, where he scored a brilliant century. On the domestic and county circuits, he represented many teams like Multan, Hyderabad Heroes, and Yorkshire, to name a few.

Following his farewell from international cricket at the 2007 ICC World Cup, Inzamam transitioned into key administrative roles, serving as chief selector for the Pakistan national team and head coach for Afghanistan. Celebrated globally for his big-match temperament and unmatched calm under pressure, he remains an immortal figure of international cricket, remembered as the engine room of Pakistan's greatest batting lineups.
