Miane Smit

Miane Smit was born in Bloemfontein in February 2005. An all-rounder, she combines right-handed top-order batting with right-arm off-break bowling. Smit made her senior List A debut for Free State on March 29, 2019, against Northerns in the final of the CSA Women's Provincial League at fourteen years of age. In October 2019, she made her domestic T20 debut against KwaZulu-Natal Coastal, establishing herself as a regular option in the provincial setup.

In early 2023, Smit represented South Africa at the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup. She claimed seven wickets at an average of 8.42 across four matches, recorded best bowling figures of 4 for 11 against the United Arab Emirates. She continued her development with South Africa Emerging, winning a silver medal at the African Games in Accra, Ghana, in March 2024. She was subsequently named as a traveling reserve for the senior squad at the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Smit earned her senior international debuts in 2025. She received her maiden ODI cap on May 7, 2025, against India during the Tri-Nation Series in Sri Lanka, followed by her senior T20I debut against the West Indies on June 20, 2025.

During South Africa's tour of Zimbabwe in September 2026, Smit recorded her maiden international century in the fourth T20I at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on September 17. Opening the batting, she scored a spectacular 102 off 59 balls, striking 15 fours and one six to lead South Africa to a total of 205 for 4 and an 80-run victory.

By late 2026, Smit has established herself in South Africa's white-ball squad, maintaining a T20I batting average over 44 with a strike rate approaching 150, providing a versatile top-order batting and off-spin option for the Proteas.
