Nqabayomzi Peter

Nqabayomzi Peter is a skilful young leg-spinner whose calm demeanour and wrist-spin craft have marked him out as one of South Africa’s brightest bowling prospects. He made his domestic T20 debut for Border on in 2021 in the CSA Provincial T20 Cup. His List A debut followed in 2023 for the DP World Lions against Western Province. He earned his first-class cap on in 2025 in the 4-Day Series versus Boland. One standout domestic milestone was a sensational 4-for-7 in the 2024 CSA T20 Challenge, which helped cement his reputation as a wicket-taking spinner at the provincial level. Additionally, September 2024 brought him two major honours - he was named Men’s Domestic Newcomer of the Season and T20 Challenge Player of the Season, recognition of his breakout year.

Peter earned his international T20I debut for the South Africa national cricket team on in 2024 against the West Indies, and took two wickets on debut. He made his ODI debut in the same year versus Afghanistan in Sharjah. Early in his international career he demonstrated his ability to deliver when called upon, and is viewed as a key part of South Africa’s spin-bowling future.

While he is at the start of his franchise journey, he has been signed by the Paarl Royals in the SA20 competition, giving him exposure to high-level T20 cricket in a major league environment and the chance to develop his craft alongside top players.
