Salman Mirza

Muhammad Salman Mirza stands apart from the usual pace-bowling pipeline in Pakistan, a genuine late bloomer who bypassed the traditional age-group academy route entirely. Instead, his breakthrough came via the renowned Lahore Qalandars Player Development Program. Operating as a left-arm medium-fast bowler, Mirza built his game on disciplined swing, tight lines, and sharp seam movement with the new ball.

He made his senior T20I debut for Pakistan on July 20, 2025, against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. He wasted no time settling into international cricket, picking up wickets in successive matches and finishing with seven scalps across his first three outings.

Later that year, he produced a standout performance against South Africa, tearing through their top order to secure career-best figures of 3 for 14 in four overs and walking away with the Player of the Match award. This explosive early international run earned him a place in Pakistan's squad for the 2025 Asia Cup (where Pakistan finished as runners-up) and subsequent multi-nation tours.

Mirza's domestic journey initially began with his T20 debut for the Lahore Qalandars back in the 2021 PSL, but it was the 2025 season that truly announced his arrival as an elite impact bowler. He delivered match-winning spells of 4 for 31 against Peshawar Zalmi and 3 for 16 against Islamabad United, earning back-to-back Player of the Match honors to propel the Qalandars into the playoffs.

His cricketing footprint extends well beyond the PSL, including appearances for Islamabad United, a stint at Clydach Cricket Club in UK league cricket, and first-class and List A experience abroad with the Mountaineers in Zimbabwe, alongside domestic spells for Lahore Whites, Lahore Blues, and Central Punjab. The ultimate validation of his consistent rise came ahead of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, when national selectors originally named him to the frontline pace battery.
