Shivang Kumar is one of the most intriguing all-round prospects to emerge in Indian domestic cricket. Born on May 26, 2002, in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, he grew up in a cricket-oriented household where his father, Praveen Kumar - a former Bengal U-19 player turned coach - guided his early development and engineered his crucial transition into a left-arm wrist-spinner.
Shivang forged his path through competitive age-group and local setups before making a major mark in the central Indian domestic circuit. Operating as a right-handed batter and left-arm wrist-spinner, his rare bowling style immediately caught the eye of selectors looking for point-of-difference spin options. His white-ball breakthrough gathered steam during the 2025 domestic season, where he delivered dominant performances across formats. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A), he produced a headline campaign, capturing 10 wickets in just 3 matches, anchored by a blistering 5 for 45 against Karnataka, while also providing vital lower-order runs.
His rapid rise continued into the regional franchise stage, where he showcased explosive multi-format skills. Playing in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL), Shivang represented teams like the Bhopal Leopards and the Bundelkhand Bulls. During the 2026 MPL season with the Bundelkhand Bulls, he delivered several match-turning performances, including an extraordinary 65 off just 17 balls (hitting 5 sixes and 7 fours) against the Malwa Stallions, alongside taking regular wickets through the tournament.
Shivang’s exceptional skill set earned him a coveted IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2026 season. Thrust into high-intensity T20 situations, he showcased composure and tactical adaptability, picking up crucial wickets in matches such as SRH's playoff campaign against the Rajasthan Royals. Continuing his progression through late 2026, Shivang was retained in the Madhya Pradesh Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming 2026-27 season, cementing his status as a highly versatile all-rounder.
