Vijay Unni

Vijay Unni Suresh Unni was born on August 15, 2003, in Malaysia. A right-arm off-spinner and capable right-handed lower-order batter, he developed through the Malaysian Cricket Association age-group structures and led the Malaysia Under-19 team as captain before making his transition to senior international cricket.

Since making his international debut in 2022, Vijay's rise has been meteoric. In an astonishingly short span, he accumulated over eighty T20 appearances for Malaysia, picking up 88 wickets at an outstanding bowling average under 19. His rapid tally placed him among the highest wicket-takers in Malaysian international history, matching and surpassing the feats of seasoned veterans.

In addition to his T20I record, Unni featured for various domestic and regional franchise setups, including the Central Smashers in local T20 competitions. Alongside his off-spin, his composure as a lower-order batter provided useful depth, frequently contributing vital late-order runs during tight finishes.

The year 2026 marked a pivotal phase in his career. During the 2026 Asian Games Men's T20I Qualifier in Singapore, Unni delivered outstanding bowling performances to finish as the joint-leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps and help secure Malaysia's qualification.

Through September 2026, he led Malaysia's spin attack during their bilateral fixtures against the UAE and featured prominently at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, solidifying his reputation as one of the premier spin-bowling all-rounders in Asian associate cricket.
