South Africa motored to a clinical 130-run win over minnows Scotland at the Oval on Sunday. While Jacques Kallis (48) and Graeme Smith (38) began the rout for the Proteas, it was AB de Villiers who stole the show with an unbeaten 34-ball 79, taking them to an eventually insurmountable 211/5 off 20 overs.

Chasing 212 for an unlikely win, Scotland were 13/4 to begin with, all at sea against Dale Steyn and Co. Once the top-order fell apart, Scotland hardly recovered before being bowled out for 81, handing SA the second-highest victory margin in T20Is.

Even though South Africa got off to a steady start, it was Kallis who upped the ante, taking Jan Stander for 21 runs off his only over. That over was the perfect catalyst for South Africa who raced along to their fifty in the 5th over. Adding 87 for the first wicket with skipper Smith, Kallis eventually bowed out for a 31-ball 48.

de Villiers, then walked in and led a charge that was too much for the Scots. He scored freely, hitting fours and sixes at will and the Scots simply had no answer to the onslaught they were under. The only consolation for the minnows was a stunner of a catch by Kyle Coetzer that sent back Mark Boucher.
