Smriti Mandhana followed up her 90-run game in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup opener against England with an unbeaten 106 against the West Indies in India’s second game of the tournament, at Taunton on Wednesday. (HIGHLIGHTS)

The left-handed Mandhana hit 13 fours and two sixes in the knock from the 108 balls, as India recovered from two early dismissals to cruise to a comfortable win against their Caribbean opponents.

This was Mandhana’s second ODI century, and Twitter hailed her for the composed, calculated knock.

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag led the plaudits for Mandhana, calling her ‘outstanding’, while Snehal Pradhan, ex-India Women’s player, too lauded the southpaw’s century.

Sehwag’s former teammates Mohammad Kaif, VVS Laxman and Aakash Chopra too took to Twitter to express their admiration for the Indian opener.

India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their next match at Taunton on Monday.
