Election Commission tells bar council to act against two law firms

The complaint sent to BCD on February 26 contended that two advocates, Shadab Khan and Irshad Khan, under the name of ABS associates, and advocate Ashish Phule of Fule Legal solution have advertised themselves as having expertise in the registration of political parties, which is prohibited for a lawyer.

The Election Commission of India complaint contended that the persons claimed themselves to have registered more than 400 and 50 political parties, respectively. It said ABS associates is not only advertising for the services but also publishing the names of their clients in the web pages given on the internet.

It sought action against the law firms for violation of the Code of Ethics for such advertisements.

Reacting to the complaint, the Delhi bar council issued a notice to the advocates and their firms seeking a response on the allegations.

An associate of Fule legal said they do not have any knowledge about the complaint and neither have they received any letter. Despite repeated calls, ABS was not available for a comment.

The Delhi high court on Tuesday sought to know the stand of the city government on a plea seeking the setting up of a mechanism to help the public lodge complaints or raise grievances against malpractices by private nursing homes and hospitals.
