Cutoffs don’t fall below 95% in second list

NEW DELHI: Delhi University’s second cutoff list saw a dip of 1-3 percentage points in science courses and 0.25-2 percentage points in humanities and commerce. But the minimum mark still remained above 95% in popular colleges.

Ramjas College, which in the first list had the highest cutoff for BCom (hons) at 99.25 %, higher than SRCC’s 98%, reduced its cutoff to 97.75%. The college could only admit three students in the course under the first list.

At SRCC, for Economics (hons), the cutoff is at 97.75% a dip of 0.5 percentage points. For Bcom (hons), the cutoff has fallen to 97.50% from 98%. The college has 314 seats vacant.

At Kirori Mal College, BA programme stands at 95% after a dip of 1.5 percentage points. The admission has been closed for BA (hons) History.

English (hons) has seen a dip of 0.75 percentage points for Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) and is now available at 97.50%. However, Humanities courses in all popular colleges remained at 95% and above, despite the significant dip.

Even in off-campus colleges, the second cutoff list remained high for BCom (hons) and Economics (hons), despite the dip. For instance, at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College both the subjects were at 97%, which was a dip of 0.25 percentage points. Similarly, at Shivaji College it was 96.5% and 96% for B.com (hons) and Economics (hons), respectively.

For Science courses the fall in the cutoff has been the highest. At KMC for Botany (hons) the cutoff has fallen by 3 percentage points to 92.5%. Even at Shivaji College, the cutoff for science courses has seen a dip of 2 percentage points. For instance, Botany cutoff is now 91%, a dip of 2 percentage points and for Zoology it is 92% from 94% in the first list.

There are colleges where certain courses have been closed. At Hindu College, BA programme and Political Science (hons) is closed. Bsc (hons) Physical Sciences is closed at KMC. At Ramjas, BSc (hons) Life sciences and Zoology have been closed. Sociology (hons) and Hindi (hons) is closed at LSR.
