NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia appeared before a city court on Saturday in connection to a criminal defamation complaint filed against them by former Union minister Kapil Sibal’s son Amit Sibal.

Kejriwal and Sisodia appeared before metropolitan magistrate Pankaj Sharma and cross examined Amit Sibal.
Amit’s testimony remained inconclusive and would therefore continue on September 17, the next date of hearing.
Besides Kejriwal and Sisodia, the complainant had also named former AAP members Prashant Bhushan and Shazia Ilmi as accused in the case. The court on September 20, 2014, had put all the four accused on trial for charges under section 500 (defamation) of the IPC.
The accused had pleaded not guilty to the offence and claimed trial.
The court had on July 24, 2014, summoned Kejriwal, Sisodia, Bhushan and Ilmi in the criminal defamation case filed by Amit, who himself is a senior lawyer.
