NEW DELHI: Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday that bureaucrats handpicked by lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung are neither attending meetings nor listening to their ministers, even as he put the onus of water-logging and traffic gridlock across the city on the Centre and the L-G.

Sisodia’s attack on Jung came after rain pounded the national capital, crumbling the city’s civic infrastructure and two days after the L-G affected a major reshuffle of the city-state bureaucracy, invoking sharp reactions from the AAP government.

The L-G also set up an independent panel on Tuesday to examine files cleared by the AAP government. Sisodia said that since the appointment of the panel, Delhi government (read officers) has had to focus on “appeasing LG’s powers” and not the welfare of its residents.

Sisodia said the city has been shamed as foreign dignitaries got stuck in traffic and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and L-G should take responsibility for it.
