NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man allegedly killed the woman he claimed to be in love with and then committed suicide, after she turned down his proposal. The incident was reported from southwest Delhi’s Inderpuri area on Sunday evening.

Sanjay (27), allegedly stalked Laxmi (28), a domestic help, and mother of two, every evening when she left for home after work. He reportedly proposed her but she turned down his proposal, which enraged him. He reportedly threatened to kill her and commit suicide, but she ignored the threats.

On Sunday, when Laxmi reached F-block, just a few steps away from her home, Sanjay allegedly dragged her to a secluded corner and attacked her with a knife. He slit her neck and stabbed her in the stomach. After she collapsed on the ground, he stabbed himself with the same knife multiple times.

A passerby, who saw the two lying on the ground, bleeding, made a PCR call. The police reached the spot and took them to the hospital. While, Laxmi, was declared dead on arrival, Sanjay, who sustained multiple stab wounds, was admitted for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.

Lakshmi is survived by her husband who works as a carpenter and two kids- an 11-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter.
