The admission process to the university will now continue up to noon on Saturday.

The university in a press statement said: “It has come to our knowledge that some colleges could not announce the merit lists in time for the admissions to be completed on July 29. Therefore, it has been decided that admissions which was scheduled for July 28-29 will be continued on July 30 up to noon.”

The time for payment of online fees too has been extended till 6 pm on Saturday. The extension, the press release said, was only for morning colleges and not for the evening ones.

Delhi University for the first time this year came out with only five cutoff lists for colleges under it. Colleges, that couldn’t fill up their seats, were later asked to declare the number of vacant seats and admissions was done as per the merit list declared by colleges.

After parents raised the issue, university had to ask the colleges to withdraw all the lists and declare fresh ones. The order created more confusion with some colleges deciding to hold counselling sessions for admissions and some not releasing new merit lists till late at night.

However, the schedule for declaration of other merit lists remains unchanged. The second merit list will be released on July 30 and admissions for the list will be done on August 1 and 2.

A number of off campus colleges said they had not received applications for seats under different courses and would hence be coming up with second and third merit lists as well.
