The dome-shaped Talkatora Stadium, one of the venues for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010 was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday.

Dikshit said that the new sports facility adjacent to the stadium has been built using environment-friendly material and energy-efficient devices, to make it a ‘green’ building.
The Talkatora Stadium, which is the boxing venue for CWG 2010, has been built at a cost of Rs 150 crore and will have a capacity of 2,700 spectators.
Natural resources, habitat and landscape have been integrated into the overall design of this stadium.
“All efforts are on to make it a memorable event so that Delhi could hope to host bigger sporting events in the future,” said Dikshit.
“Heat reflective glass and rainwater harvesting provision has also been made in this green building,” said Parimal Rai, chairman, NDMC.
During the Games, the facility block will house athlete cubicles, medical office, physiotherapy and warm up area and doping control office.
