The draw of lots for Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) latest housing scheme, usually a closed door affair, will be webcast on YouTube this time.
In a move to bring more transparency to the process of draw of lots for its 2014 housing scheme, DDA has decided to webcast the whole process live on YouTube and has engaged an agency to carry it out. The results of each of the flats would be updated live on DDA’s website in real time.
“It will be an almost two hour long webcast where viewers would be able to watch the complete process online. Before the process begins, we will also explain the procedure to viewers on the video,” DDA vice chairman Balvinder Kumar told Hindustan Times.
This would be the first time that the DDA will webcast a draw of lot for a housing scheme. The decision was taken after the land development agency got many suggestions from public for bringing in more transparency in the process.
“We had a meeting today with an agency that we have engaged to carry out the webcast for us,” he said. “We would publicise the YouTube URL through which people would be able to access the webcast. We are going to have a tie-up with YouTube for having a separate channel for this webcast as such facilities are being used to webcast tournaments and other events,” he said.
“Thanks to the webcast, thousands of people will be able to watch the process live and not land up at the site for the draw of lots,” he said. The draw of lots for the 25,034 flats on offer in the scheme is scheduled to take place on November 5 at the Noida office of C-DAC, which is carrying out the draw for DDA.
