Lawyers say Wednesdays witness at least a 20% surge in numbers of litigants as the high court hears Public Interest Litigations on these days.

"A lot of people come on Wednesdays. We have an extra load of 20%. Reception on Wednesday mornings is crowded as so many people gather to collect passes to enter the complex," said Rakesh Tikoo, Delhi Bar Association president.

Investigators also do not rule out the possibility.

"Terrorists might have chosen Wednesday because they knew more people come on these days. We don't rule out this angle," a senior police official said.

On May 25 this year, which was also a Wednesday, a low-intensity blast rocked the high court though no one was injured in the incident.

"That was in the parking lot. It was not meant to create any casualty. It now appears was a test," the official said.

"We have secured the premises. We had requested the court authorities to install CCTVs at gates," he said.

Tikoo, however, said police should have installed the CCTVs, which would have acted as a deterrent.

"If the CCTVs were installed, it would have been a great help for investigators. Now we have to rely on eye-witnesses," the official said.
