Residents of the DLF area have triggered a debate by seeking membership rights to Huda’s Gymkhana Club at the fee that is applicable for people living in Huda sectors.

“Why are DLF City residents given step-motherly treatment when the original plan has demarcated DLF area under the Huda sectors,” asks RS Rathi, president of the Gurgaon Citizen Council (GCC).
The citizen council on June 29 sent a letter to the chief administrator of Huda, seeking parity in the charges.
Though the DLF area has two clubs in phases 3 and 4 which are exclusively for DLF residents, it is the ‘affordability’ factor which makes the Gymkhana Club attractive.
“DLF clubs are now run like five star hotels. Two decades ago, the entire DLF had only a few hundred households and almost everyone was a club member. There was no membership fee. But now the scenario has completely changed,” said Amandeep Singh of DLF Phase I. “I would be happy to be a Gymkhana Club member where the rates are not ridiculously high,” he added.
A Huda official said: “Gymkhana has 1,400 members. The membership fee is only Rs 25,000 for Huda sector residents, but it is Rs 60,000 for a DLF resident. It is a different story that the membership has been closed for the past five years.”
