In yet another case of using forged documents to procure commercial pilot licence (CPL), Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested a trainee Air India co-pilot. With this, a total of 22 people have been arrested in such cases so far.
The trainee co-pilot has been identified as Sourabh Prakash Lokhande (29), said Ashok Chand, DCP (crime).
The airline regulator had earlier forwarded his name to Delhi Police’s Crime Branch claiming that Lokhande and another colleague of him had submitted forged marksheets for obtaining the CPL, said police.
Lokhande reportedly told police that he appeared in three pilot license examinations conducted by the DGCA but did not get through. Later, he got in touch with Eknath Patil, a middleman, in Ahmedabad, who allegedly told him that he could arrange for a forged result sheet showing that he passed in all papers for Rs 3.1 lakh, Chand said.
With this, Delhi Police have arrested a total of 12 pilots, three DGCA officials, two middleman and two forgers.
