Gang of pack-and-move robbers busted by Delhi cops

When Mohammed Asif, a Delhi University professor got transferred to Central University, Tezpur in Assam, he called up a popular search engine for numbers of movers and packers. From among the numbers provided, he engaged a company named Express Cargo. On October 2, all the household items from Asif’s Dwarka home were taken by the packers but instead to delivering them at the destination they decamped with it.

A truck loaded with stolen household items like TV, AC, refrigerator, washing machine, furniture, among other items worth lakhs of rupees was seized by the cops.

Following Asif’s complaint at Dwarka North police station on November 12, the cops arrested a 29-year-old man named Gajendra Singh from Greater Noida. A truck loaded with stolen household items like TV, AC, refrigerator, washing machine, furniture, among other items worth lakhs of rupees was seized and a stolen Honda City car was also recovered from him.

“We registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and formed teams to probe it. Our team members collected information about the gang and caught Gajendra Singh with a truck containing misappropriated stuff of the professor and other customers,” said Kumar.

Singh, who belongs to Aligarh in UP but has been living in Greater Noida for the last few years, ran a fake packing and moving company. He offered services on rates cheaper than other prominent companies in the same business, police said. They said the gang was involved in a series of such crimes in the past.
