Parents to begin protest from Monday

Soon after the announcement of schools hiking the fees, parents from various areas have started protesting, reports Kapil Datta.

Parents of students studying in Somerville School in Greater Noida have got a circular asking them not to deposit fees for the month of October. The school has decided to hike its fees and would soon inform the parents about the quantum of hike.

Karamvir Bhatti, the school’s administrative officer, said, “The fee hike was necessitated by the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations that have been accepted by the state government. The school’s account department is calculating the exact amount of hike.”

Soon after the announcement of schools hiking the fees, parents from various areas have started protesting.

The general secretary of Greater Noida’s Lok Kalyan Samiti, Ramesh Negi, said they have written to the school management protesting the fee hike.

“The school hiked its fees in April 2008 and now it wants to increase the fee further. In addition, there are a number of other regular payments,” Negi said.

Similarly, the Noida District Students’ Guardians Association has decided to hold protest demonstrations outside the schools from Monday.

The association comprises parents and guardians of students from Somerville, Amity, DPS, Cambridge, Vishwa Bharati, Apeejay, Bal Bharti and other prominent schools in Noida.

Gautam Buddha Nagar District Inspector of Schools Jatinder Malik said fee hike in the middle of the session is was unjustified. “If any school hikes its fee, strict action would be taken against it,” he added.
