Police may allow free parking

At least for next one year, you cannot park or halt your car on carriageways of the arterial roads in central Delhi even to ask for directions. The Delhi Police would ruthlessly tow away the vehicles found parked on either side of the carriageways at Tolstoy Marg, Jantar Mantar Road, Ashoka Road, Ferozeshah Road and Janpath Lane. With construction going on in Connaught Place too, this part of the city is all set to become motorists’ nightmare.

The police would also impose restrictions on the movement of vehicles on heavy traffic stretches of Janpath. Vehicular movement, however, would be allowed through a narrow stretch on the remaining portion of the road. “During this period, vehicular pressure would be high on other arterial roads due to diversions,” said Satyendra Garg, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
