The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi unit dismissed chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s budget as an indication of her being “not concerned” about the city.

Not much thought has gone into the budget, the unit claimed, citing the mention yet again of old projects such as a planned hospital in Burari. It said 80% of Delhi’s people did not have essential amenities, yet the Capital was being touted as an international city
Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel asked why there was an account of 15 years in an annual budget.
“Only 20% of Delhi resembles an international city. There is great scarcity of basic amenities such as power, water, sewer, transport, education and health,” he said.
“No new tax has been imposed. But the government has already increased water, power and sewer charges,” he said.
The promise of cheap housing for the poor is a repetition, the party said.
