The monsoons have once again exposed the lack of preparedness of the civic bodies with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) registering 13 cases of waterlogging and seven cases of tree felling across the city.

The heavy downpour also washed away tall claims made by the civic body of cleaning all the 1,500 storm water drains in the city.
Motorists faced a lot of inconvenience on Monday as severe waterlogging led to traffic snarls in various parts of the city. Traffic jam was reported from many areas including NH8 (between Dhaula Kuan and Gurgaon), stretch connecting Moti Bagh and Punjabi Bagh, Vikas Marg, Defence Colony, Moolchand flyover, Lodhi Road among others.
What’s worst? A tree was uprooted at the busy Zakir Hussain Marg crossing during evening, and the police had to close traffic movement between C Hexagon and Nizamuddin, which led to traffic jams in the area. "We initially had closed the entire Zakir Hussain Marg and diverted traffic on Pandara Road and Mathura Road," said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
