Delhi Police Commissioner YS Dadwal on Friday said it was not the police that recommended the government to grant parole to Manu Sharma.

A controversy erupted after Sharma — serving a life sentence for the murder of model Jessica Lall — and his friend Sahil Dhingra were spotted at F-Bar in the capital on November 7.
Sharma should have been in Chandigarh as per the conditions laid down when he was granted parole.
“We did not recommend his parole,” Dadwal said.
He said the Delhi government had sought a report on Sharma and the police had submitted the report.
“It is routine... the government asks the police before granting a parole. We send a report,” he said.
“It is for the government to take a decision based on that (the report). We had submitted the report when the government asked us.”
The duo had also allegedly entered into a scuffle with the commissioner’s son Pranav Dadwal.
