They have given a written complaint to the Delhi Police.

Confirming the development, RA Sanjeev, DCP (IGIA), said the police had received a written complaint against inspector Sanjeev and assistant commandant Upreti of the CISF, and were mulling filing a criminal case in the matter till Friday.

“The complaint has been filed by Harjit Singh and Sandeep Singh from Punjab, who were intercepted by the two officers and framed as cheats attempting to travel on fake documents, at Terminal 3 on October 29. In reality, however, they were victims of cheating themselves,” DCP Sanjeev said.

In their complaint, Harjit and Sandeep state that they ‘were harassed and wrongfully restrained by the two CISF officers on the pretext of locating a tout’, who had cheated them of more than $4000 and R80,000 each, on the intervening night of October 28 and 29.

The duo also claimed that they had approached the CISF officers for help instead of being ‘intercepted’ by the latter before ‘being grilled for close to three hours’ in the assistant commandant’s room while the tout got away.

“Entering the terminal on the basis of fake e-tickets, being willing to go Canada illegally and paying money to do so, makes them guilty of the offence of cheating and trespass. Also, the police had not responded till 5:15 am,” Saraswat added.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police called the CISF’s claim that ‘the police had not responded’ to their intimation ‘bogus and false’.
