CBSE Class 12 results: Pass percentage dips, Ananya Singh tops in Allahabad region

Students of private schools performed better by a slight margin as compared to government-run Abhinav Vidyalayas

Girls performed better than boys in the Allahabad region in the Class 12 board examinations, results of which were declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday, as the overall pass percentage this year registered a slight dip.

Ramesh Kumar, the board’s assistant secretary for Allahabad region, said 81.65% girls cleared the exam as compared to 71.47% boys this year.

Kumar said the overall pass percentage in the Class 12 results, however, was recorded at 75.19 - 1.01 points less than last year. The secretary added that 132,432 students from 1,120 schools registered for the exams and 130,353 appeared for it at 364 examination centres in 60 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Ananya Singh of Meerut Public Girls School topped in the Allahabad region by securing 497 marks or 99.4% marks and shared the third place in the country with six other students on the merit list.

Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya registered the highest pass percentage of 97.79 and those of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya registered the second highest at 95.87.
