JEE (Advanced) 2018 tomorrow: Go for exams in slippers, sandals, says IIT Kanpur

JEE (Advanced) 2018: Candidates will not be allowed to carry electronic gadgets such as digital watches, health bands or wear items containing metal like rings, says IIT Kanpur which is conducting the exam.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K), which is conducting the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Advanced) for admission to the country’s premier engineering colleges, has taken stringent measures to hold the test, scheduled for Sunday (May 20), in a fair manner.

According to a press release by IIT-K media in charge, Professor Shalabh, candidates appearing for the JEE (Advanced) examination will not be allowed to carry smart, digital, programmable watches, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands or any other electronic gadgets. They may, however, wear simple analog watches.

Any printed, blank, handwritten paper, log table, writing pad, scale, geometry and pencil box, broach, hair pin, hair band, pouch, calculator, pen drives, electronic pens, wallet, handbags, goggles or similar things are not allowed inside the examination hall, the release said.

Female candidates would also not be allowed to wear charm objects, tabeez, items containing metal like rings, nose pins, earrings, chain, necklace, pendants, badges, brooch, hairpins or hair band.

Clothes with full sleeves, or with big buttons would not be allowed. Candidates are advised to come in open footwear like chappals (slippers) and sandals. The violation of any of the rules and regulations at any stage of the JEE (Advanced) examination will lead to the cancellation of the candidature, the release said.

The candidates would be able to take their seat in the examination hall after biometric registration and verification by 7.45am for paper one and by 12.45pm for paper two.

The candidates would have to present a print out of downloaded admit card for verification at the examination centres.

Besides the admit card for the JEE (Advanced) exam, they must bring at least one original photo identity card like driving licence, passport, pan card, voter ID Aadhaar Card or school or college ID.

For all rough work, the candidates would be provided a scribble pad which would be given to them at the start of the exam. The scribble pad would have to be submitted to the invigilator after the examination is over. Candidates would not be allowed to leave the examination hall without returning the scribble pad to the invigilator.
