Himanshu Gaurav Singh of Gorakhpur and Naman Gupta of Kanpur are among the 24 candidates who have scored 100 percentile in JEE (Main) January- 2019 and April- 2019 Examination in Paper-1 (BE/BTech), result of which was declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday evening.
Himanshu was ranked 14th and Naman stood 17th. Both said this was just the first hurdle. The bigger ones, JEE Advanced and Class 12 board exam results, were still to come.
The JEE advanced will be held on May 27.
“The final celebrations will be held when I get entry into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) later this year,” Himanshu said, adding that he was focusing on a much better performance in JEE Advanced.
Himanshu, for whom Mathematics is fun, hopes for admission in one of the top IITs to pursue computer science which is also his favourite subject.
His father Luv Kush Singh is a teacher in Government Polytechnic and mother Roopa Singh is a housewife.
Naman also said he was preparing for JEE Advanced. Expressing happiness at his score sheet, he said, “It was like a dream come true.”
The 17-year-old wants to pursue computer science from IIT Delhi, Bombay or Kanpur .

{{/usCountry}}A Class 12 student of Dr Virendra Swarup Education Centre, Avadhpuri, Naman did not appear in the April examination as he had scored 100 percentile in January 2019 examination. “I never did anything special to secure the top percentile. The key is to get your concept right and stay focused,” he said.
Naman’s mother Sandhya Gupta said she was happy with her son’s performance. “I was expecting him to do much better.”
His father Ram Kumar Gupta is a locomotive pilot in the Indian railways.
Both Naman and Himanshu have keen interest in sports.
For those candidates who appeared in both January and April examinations, the better of the two scores has been taken into consideration. Out of 6,08,440 candidates appearing in both exams, 2,97,932 improved their performance.
For the first time, the JEE (Main) examination was conducted twice in online mode this year. The first examination was conducted from January 8 to 12 in two shifts and the second on April 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12.
