Manipur decides to allow reopening of educational institutes from March 10

Manipur government has decided to allow reopening of the all classes in all educational institutes with effect from March 10 until further order.

Considering the considerable improvement in Covid 19 situation in the recent weeks and the rate of vaccination among the teachers, staff and students of the state, the Manipur government has decided to allow reopening of the all classes in all educational institutes with effect from March 10 until further order.

The Commissioner (Education-Schools/Higher Secondary & Technical Education) M Harekrishna of Government of Manipur issued an office memorandum in this regard on Wednesday.

“The re-opening of all educational institutes including residential schools, hostels, boarding schools and coaching institutes and also institutions under different ministries of Government of India shall be subject to observance such Standard Operating Procedure(SoP) /Guidelines issued by Health department..” the memorandum said.

It also reiterated that teachers, students and guardians should adhere to Covid Appropriate Behaviour and all government instructions/relevant SoPs, as issued by the Government from time to time.

Further, all educational institutes including residential schools, hostels, boarding schools and coaching institutes and also institutions under different ministries of Government of India should display prominently the number of vaccinated and unvaccinated teachers and staff, it added.

Schools and colleges in Manipur reopened with Covid-19 safety procedures from January to April last year after a gap of ten months.

On Wednesday, the state reported 25 new recoveries while 10 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported, taking the total number of recovered Covid-19 to 1,34,719. Thus, the state’s recovery rate increased to 98.38%. The state’s total infection tally increased to 1,36,931 while the Covid-19 death toll stands at 2,116.Currently there are only 96 Covid 19 active cases in the state.
