Goa Election: Curchorem Assembly Constituency 2022

Curchorem is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the South Goa district. Goa Assembly Election 2022 for Curchorem was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.

Curchorem assembly constituency had 26,030 electors in 2017, out of which 12,804 were male voters and 13,226 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.1% votes.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Election, there were 4 candidates in the fray from Curchorem constituency. Curchorem was one of 13 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Nilesh Cabral comfortably winning the election upstaging Goa Suraksha Manch's Shyam Gopinath Satardekar by a huge margin of 9,088 votes.

The top three candidates split 90.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Nilesh Cabral got a total of 12,830 votes, while Goa Suraksha Manch's Shyam Gopinath Satardekar secured 3,742 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Rosario Mariano Fernandes grabbed the third spot with 2,778 votes. The top three parties got 60.0%, 17.5% and 13.0% respectively.

In Goa Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Nilesh Cabral defeated Indian National Congress's Shyam Gopinath Satardekar by 8,792 votes.
