Goa Election: Velim Assembly Constituency 2022

Velim comes under the South Goa district and it is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Velim voted for Goa Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Velim assembly seat had 31,178 registered voters. Of the, 14,970 were male and 16,208 were female voters. 0.8% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Velim constituency. Velim was one of 17 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a one way contest with Indian National Congress's Filipe Nery Rodrigues comfortably winning the election upstaging independent candidate Benjamin Silva by a huge margin of 5,253 votes.

The top three candidates split 81.7% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Filipe Nery Rodrigues got a total of 10,417 votes, while independent candidate Benjamin Silva secured 5,164 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Cruz Silva grabbed the third spot with 3,423 votes. The top three parties got 44.8%, 22.2% and 14.7% respectively.

In Goa Assembly election 2012, Independent candidate Benjamin Silva beat Indian National Congress's Filipe Nery Rodrigues by 4,926 votes.
