Chamarajanagar comes under the Chamarajanagar district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Chamarajanagar voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Chamarajanagar assembly constituency had 2,04,126 electors in 2018, out of which 1,00,816 were male voters and 1,03,294 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.0% votes.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 14 candidates in the fray from Chamarajanagar constituency. Chamarajanagar was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's C Puttarangashetty winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's K R Mallikarjunappa by a margin of just 4,913 votes.
The top two candidates split 89.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's C Puttarangashetty got a total of 75,963 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's K R Mallikarjunappa secured 71,050 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate A M Mallikarjunaswamy (ALUR MALLU) secured 7,134 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 46.0%, 43.0% and 4.3% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's C.Puttarangashetty outperformed Karnataka Jantha Paksha's K.R.Mallikarjunappa by 11,196 votes.
