Chittapur is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Gulbarga district. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Chittapur will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Chittapur assembly constituency had 2,28,618 electors in 2018, out of which 1,14,714 were male voters and 1,13,872 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Chittapur constituency had 8 candidates for assembly seat contention. Chittapur was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Priyank Kharge winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Valmik Naik by a margin of just 4,393 votes.
The top two candidates split 96.9% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Priyank Kharge got a total of 69,700 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Valmik Naik secured 65,307 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Devaraja V K secured 1,218 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.0%, 46.9% and 0.9% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Priyank Kharge defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Valmiki Naik by 31,191 votes.
