Bharatiya Janata Party's Basawaraj Mattimud won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Vijaykumar G Ramakrishna by a margin of 12,386 votes.

Bharatiya Janata Party's Basawaraj Mattimud got a total of 61,750 votes, while Indian National Congress's Vijaykumar G Ramakrishna secured 49,364 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Revu Naik Belamagi grabbed the third spot with 29,538 votes. The top three parties got 40.9%, 32.7% and 19.6% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's G.Ramkrishna defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Revunayak Belamgi by 7,218 votes.
