Gundlupet is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Chamarajanagar district. People of Gundlupet voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Gundlupet assembly constituency had 2,02,852 electors in 2018, out of which 1,00,820 were male voters and 1,02,016 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Gundlupet constituency had 7 candidates for assembly seat contention. Gundlupet was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's C S Niranjan Kumar won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's M C Mohan Kumari Uruf Geetha by a margin of 16,684 votes.
The top two candidates split 94.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's C S Niranjan Kumar got a total of 94,151 votes, while Indian National Congress's M C Mohan Kumari Uruf Geetha secured 77,467 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate S Guruprasad secured 6,412 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 51.8%, 42.6% and 3.5% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's H.S. Mahadeva Prasad defeated Karnataka Jantha Paksha's C.S. Niranjanakumar by 7,675 votes.
