Madikeri is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kodagu district. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Madikeri will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Madikeri assembly constituency had 2,12,277 electors in 2018, out of which 1,05,392 were male voters and 1,06,879 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.8% votes.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Madikeri constituency. Madikeri was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Appachu Ranjan M P won the election upstaging Janata Dal (Secular)'s B A Jivijaya by a margin of 16,015 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.4% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Appachu Ranjan M P got a total of 70,631 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s B A Jivijaya secured 54,616 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate K P Chandrakala grabbed the third spot with 38,219 votes. The top three parties got 42.1%, 32.5% and 22.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's Appachu (RANJAN) M.P defeated Janata Dal (Secular)'s B.A.Jivijaya by 4,629 votes.
