The top two candidates split 95.8% of votes between them. Janata Dal (Secular)'s K. Mahadeva got a total of 77,770 votes, while Indian National Congress's K. Venkatesh secured 70,277 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Manjunatha S secured 4,047 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.3%, 45.5% and 2.6% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's K.Venkatesh outperformed Janata Dal (Secular)'s K.Mahadev by 2,088 votes.
