Tumkur City comes under the Tumkur district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Tumkur City voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Tumkur City assembly constituency had 2,56,327 electors in 2018, out of which 1,27,828 were male voters and 1,28,465 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Tumkur City constituency had 13 candidates for assembly seat contention. Tumkur City was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's G.B. Jyothi Ganesh winning the election upstaging Janata Dal (Secular)'s N. Govindaraju by a margin of just 5,293 votes.
The top three candidates split 98.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's G.B. Jyothi Ganesh got a total of 60,421 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s N. Govindaraju secured 55,128 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Dr. Rafeeq Ahmed. S. grabbed the third spot with 51,219 votes. The top three parties got 35.8%, 32.7% and 30.4% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Dr. Rafeeq Ahmed S. defeated Karnataka Jantha Paksha's G.B. Jyothi Ganesh by 3,608 votes.
