Kerala Assembly Election 2021

Kerala Assembly Election 2021 in 140 constituencies of the state was held in a single phase on April 6. The counting of Kerala Assembly Election 2021 votes will take place on May 2, along with that of the four other states/UT, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, which are conducting elections in March and April. There are 14 districts in the state — Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be contesting from Dharamdam constituency in Kannur, from where he won in 2016. The Left Democratic Front, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M), is looking to retain its power in the state, which will see a triangular fight among the incumbent LDF, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), and the BJP which has fielded E Sreedharan, who is known as the Metro Man of India. In the 2016 Kerala Assembly elections, the LDF won 91 of the 140 assembly seats. In the 2011 Kerala Assembly Election, UDF defeated LDF by a margin of four seats. Voting for Kerala Assembly Election 2021 will be held at 40,771 booths -- the number has been increased because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
