Manipur Election: Phungyar (st) Assembly Constituency 2022

Phungyar (st) is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Ukhrul district. People of Phungyar (st) voted for Manipur Assembly Election 2022 on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.

In Manipur Assembly Election 2017, there were 30,167 registered voters for Phungyar (st) assembly seat, out of which 15,120 were male and 15,047 were female voters. 0.2% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In the Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Phungyar (st) constituency had 5 candidates for assembly seat contention. Phungyar (st) was one of 4 seats won by the Naga Peoples Front. Naga Peoples Front's K. Leishiyo won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Somi Awungshi by a margin of 4,778 votes.

97.8% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Naga Peoples Front's K. Leishiyo grabbed a total of 11,900 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Somi Awungshi got 7,122 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Victor Keishing bagged 5,313 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 47.8%, 28.6% and 21.4% respectively.

In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Victor Keishing outperformed Naga Peoples Front's Honreikhui Kashung by 1,695 votes.
