It was an extremely close fight, with Indian National Congress's Rajkumar Imo Singh narrowly winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Khwairakpam Loken Singh by a slim margin of 19 votes.
94.8% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Indian National Congress's Rajkumar Imo Singh got a total of 9,211 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Khwairakpam Loken Singh got 9,192 votes. National People's Party's candidate G. Satyabati Devi grabbed 982 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 47.4%, 47.3% and 5.1% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Manipur State Congress Party's Rajkumar Imo Singh beat Indian National Congress's Dr. Khwairakpam Loken Singh by 419 votes.
