Puducherry Election: Ozhukarai Assembly Constituency 2022

Ozhukarai is one of the 30 Puducherry Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Puducherry district. Puducherry Assembly Election 2021 for Ozhukarai was held on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.

Ozhukarai assembly constituency had 37,347 electors in 2016, out of which 17,996 were male voters and 19,351 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 1.6% votes.

What happened last time

In the 2016 Puducherry Legislative Assembly Election, there were 17 candidates in the fray from Ozhukarai constituency. Ozhukarai was one of 15 seats won by the All India N.R. Congress. It was a one way contest with Indian National Congress's Mnr. Balan comfortably winning the election upstaging All India N.R. Congress's N.G. Pannirselvam by a huge margin of 7,107 votes.

The top three candidates split 86.8% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Mnr. Balan got a total of 14,703 votes, while All India N.R. Congress's N.G. Pannirselvam secured 7,596 votes. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's candidate M. Sivasankar grabbed the third spot with 3,958 votes. The top three parties got 48.6%, 25.1% and 13.1% respectively.

In Puducherry Assembly election 2011, All India N.R. Congress's N.G. Pannir Selvam outperformed independent candidate A.N. Balane by 1,566 votes.
