89.2% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Saroja V. Dr got a total of 86,901 votes, while Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Duraisamy V.P got 77,270 votes. Pattali Makkal Katchi's candidate Pushpagandhi J grabbed 6,952 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 47.2%, 42.0% and 3.8% respectively.
In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Dhanapal.P outperformed Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Duraisamy.V.P by 24,717 votes.
