Tamil Nadu Election: Thiruvarur Assembly Constituency 2022

Thiruvarur is one of the 232 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Thiruvarur district. Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2021 for Thiruvarur was held on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.

In 2016, the Thiruvarur assembly seat had 2,52,466 registered voters. Of the, 1,25,424 were male and 1,27,029 were female voters. 0.9% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Thiruvarur constituency had 15 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 89 seats were won by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Thiruvarur was one of them. The election for Thiruvarur seat was comfortably won by Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Karunanidhi .M defeating All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Pannerselvam .R by a huge margin of 68,366 votes.

89.7% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Karunanidhi .M got a total of 1,21,473 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Pannerselvam .R got 53,107 votes. Communist Party Of India's candidate Masilamani .P.S grabbed 13,158 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 62.4%, 27.3% and 6.8% respectively.

In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Karunanidhi. M outperformed All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Rajendran. M by 50,249 votes.
