Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Karunanidhi .M got a total of 1,21,473 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Pannerselvam .R got 53,107 votes. Communist Party Of India's candidate Masilamani .P.S grabbed 13,158 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 62.4%, 27.3% and 6.8% respectively.
In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Karunanidhi. M outperformed All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Rajendran. M by 50,249 votes.
