Siliguri comes under the Darjiling district and it is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Siliguri voted for West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 on April 17 and the result was declared on May 2.
In 2016, the Siliguri assembly seat had 2,06,185 registered voters. Of the, 1,06,245 were male and 99,940 were female voters. 1.4% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Siliguri constituency. Siliguri was one of 26 seats won by the All India Trinamool Congress. Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Asok Bhattacharya won the election upstaging All India Trinamool Congress's Bhaichung Bhutia by a margin of 14,072 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.5% of votes between them. Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Asok Bhattacharya got a total of 78,054 votes, while All India Trinamool Congress's Bhaichung Bhutia secured 63,982 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Gita Chatterjee grabbed the third spot with 19,300 votes. The top three parties got 47.2%, 38.7% and 11.7% respectively.
In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Rudra Nath Bhattacharya defeated Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Asok Bhattacharya by 5,006 votes.
