When Emraan Hashmi made his debut on filmmaker Karan Johar's chat show Koffee with Karan in 2014, he made some statements that not only made headlines for the day, but also got stuck with him for a long time. On the show, Emraan had labeled Aishwarya Rai as 'plastic', and even said that his famous kiss with Mallika Sherawat, in Murder (2004), was his worst one on screen. As Friday marks Emraan's 44th birthday, we revisit all the sassiest statements that he made during his appearance on the fourth season of Koffee with Karan. Emraan appeared alongside Mahesh Bhatt in 2014. During that episode, Emraan jokingly 'blamed' Mahesh for creating his 'serial kisser image' but the filmmaker said, "That penthouse that he has in the Beverly Hills of India - Palli Hill - it costs ₹40 crore, is thanks to that image. Left to himself, he barely had the means to buy a cycle."
Called Aishwarya Rai 'plastic'
Emraan shocked one and all when he named Aishwarya Rai during the rapid-fire round on Koffee with Karan. Emraan was asked to name the actor/actress that comes to his mind when he hears some particular words. As Karan said 'plastic,' Emraan replied, 'Aishwarya' (Rai).
The comment turned out to be a sore point for Emraan. In a 2014 interview, Emraan told Hindustan Times, “I didn’t mean it. I’m a big fan of Aishwarya. It’s the format of the show. I can't not say things and not win the hamper. I love her. I have always been a great admirer of her work. I knew people would make a big deal out of it… so what, people make a big deal out of nonsense all the time.” He also told Zoom TV in a different interview that "Karan pushes you to say these things" on the show.

Though it was his first one, and the one that catapulted him to national fame, Emraan had said that his kiss with Mallika Sherawat was his worst onscreen kiss. Karan asked him about his best kiss and Emraan said, "There were many in Murder 2, with Jacqueline Fernandez." Asked about the worst, Emraan did not hesitate before naming Mallika.
Calling Mahesh Bhatt an 'extortionist'
Recalling his first stint with the filmmaker, Emraan told Karan that Mahesh Bhatt would fling a newspaper at him at 4 am every day so he could wake up early and start working on a script with him. When Mahesh suggested jokingly that Emraan is a miser (refusing to treat him after becoming popular), the actor joked he was not a miser, but Mahesh was an 'extortionist'. Mahesh played along and told Karan that after having crafted the persona of a star (Emraan), Mahesh deserved to be paid for his efforts, "even Mafia does it".
Would find an Idiot's handbook' in Mallika Sherawat's bedroom
During the rapid-fire round, Emraan was asked what he'd find in Mallika Sherawat's bedroom and he quickly responded with 'An idiot's handbook to success in Hollywood'.
