Kannada actress Maria Susairaj has moved court, seeking permission to have home food in jail.
Susairaj (27) and her finacé, ML Jerome Mathew, have been accused of murdering Neeraj Grover (25) on May 7, 2008.
Her plea states that food at Byculla jail, where she is lodged, causes her stomach pain and indigestion.
“She is surviving on fruits and other items served in jail,” said her lawyer F Murthy.
While admitting that the food served in jail was nutritious, Murthy told the court that it did not suit his client.
The court has ordered the jail doctor for a report on whether the indigestion was caused by jail food. The doctor has been told to be present on January 13, when the application for home food will be decided and charges against the accused duo are likely to be framed.
